But how come Belarus was like that? I always imagined it as extremely tranquil, almost boring and tidy Slavic place. Is it related to destruction nazis caused during WW2 or not? I know Belarus was extremely brutalized during WW2 and someting like 1/4 of population perished.

Yes, Ukrainian and Modovan women were known for prostitution across Europe. In the ex Yugo space for many people everyone which came from ex Soviet space if is of white race is 'Russian.' One my distant cousins lived 15 years in Moscow and she brought Estonian man from there. They live in Serbia permanently pretty long and everyone call him 'Rus.' He is anti-Putin oriented. He is Orthodox, but I don't know is that his original religion or he adopted Orthodoxy from my cousins i never asked her that. Estonians should be mostly Protestants.


In 1990s and first several years of 2000s skinheaads and similar were more numerous in Serbia than today, they were some kind of urban subculture in that time. One former member of Nacionalni stroj say that they beat the Gypsies in Novi Sad often and it was some kind of recreation for them. Well, it's enough to have 0,000001% of populace even if you're calm nation, the ones which will start the violence in seek for power and money in case of lack of state power and law. I think it's not related to WWII because ethnographers describe Belorussian populace in the similar way 100-150-200 years ago.

They should start learning Serbian if they think to stay here in the long term.
It is a basic form of respect for the country that received them.

They are recent newcomers and it is excepted from them to be ghettoized to some degree. Except that, many of them have some kind of superiority complex towards Balkanites. Victor wrote about that. Part of them will probably stay permanently in Serbia. Their children which go to school and grow up in Serbia and which will be born here will be well integeated for sure. They are maybe snobbish Russians but still Russians, they are not Albanians which for decades ignored Yugoslavia and Serbia as much as they could and they were ready for armed uprising against Belgrade/Serbia. White Russians which arrived in Yugoslavia after 1920 and stayed there after WW2 (part of them escaped from Yugoslavia in 1944/45 when Red Army arrived) were assimilatted in Serbs.
