Australian ads follow all the same themes, sensibilities, and visuals as American versions from those eras. I'm more familiar with this slightly older style of commercials vs. modern advertising. In America jingles were more common in 1980s and 1990s commercials and they have been replaced with bad attempts at sketch comedy. Every commercial tries to be very witty but fall flat 99% of the time IMO. I avoid of a lot modern advertising because I don't watch nearly as much TV as I did when I was a kid (mostly watch sporting events) and use ad blockers. Anyway, I miss the corny old jingles.

I use an ad blocker too and don't watch linear TV anymore, but it's true that some ads are memorable and classic. Especially cereal commercials from childhood. I started using an ad blocker because YouTube kept upping the amount of ads (and stopped making them clickable and ran two of them for 30sec each) to the extent that they're now playing them between songs.
