There is nothing wrong with be provincial or of peasant origin. I don't like snobs which play they are citizens or of noble origin since Adam and Eve. Such people have huge complexes. Everyone is of peasant and barbarian origin if go enough in the past.
I found text about origin of Jelena Rozga in Croatian newspaper https://www.rtl.hr/show/strane-zvije...4-0242ac120060
They in negative sense wrote she is not Splitian at all but from 'Vlach' village 50 km from Split, she took care of sheep in her childhood etc. For me people which came from villages in cities and make something significant in some adpects are bigger than people which are similar successfull and who are citizens for generations. Text about origin of Rozga is idiotic.

Slavs are rural population and Slavic nationalists always glorified rural life and values while urbanites were seen as degenerates and foreigners. Croatian peasant party was called peasant for a reason, they were obviously not ashamed of that.
I remember you mentioned novel "U registraturi" and it's main hero Ivica Kičmanović, which is one of most monumental Croatian novels.
Ivica is talented and clever rural boy who goes to big city for education, and is taken advantage of and corrupted by elite circles there, often consisting of foreigners. Ivica is symbolism for common Croatian small man, and Zagreb elites represented foreign overlords of Croatia or decadent Croatian nobility. Ivica was better than them and they despised him for it and tried to destroy his purity trough immoral living, intrigues and vices.
I support strong decentralisation and life centered around smaller cities and towns, with revitalisation of villages and possible building of new capital in poor sparserly populated central region like Lika. Brazil and Australia were very visionary with the new capitals.
Big cities are better suited for MENAs and Indians.

Slavs in general do not have long tradition of urban way of living.
Czechs who are most westernized Slavs were mostly peasants untl relatively recently, same goes for Moravians. In Czech cities for centuries mostly lived Germans and Jews.
Russians were peasants in vast majority until communist period.
Serbs were rural population in strong najority until 1950s/1960s when they moved from villages to cities in a large numbers. Until 19th century very few Serbs lived in Belgrade. In Belgrade for centuries lived islamized people, Aromanians, Jews and even Dubrovnik merchants which had own colony in Belgrade until late 17th century. Serbs lived in surrounding villages, some of them are today part of Belgrade. In the first few years of Austrian rule on Belgrade (1717-39) in what is now strict center of Belgade settled over 200 German families from Mainz. Austrian authorities forbade to Serbs to live in Belgrade near Danube which was Belgrade peoper in that time. In 19th century when Serbia became semi independent and independent Serbs from various parts of Serbia settled to Belgrade and in 20th century from various parts of former Yugoslavia.

True.
In Zagreb people with long line of urban ancestors usually are part Germans, Jews or Hungarians. In Istria west coast towns, Italians. Hrvoje who is urban Zagrebian aka Agramer is like 30% Germanic and has low Slavic admixture.
In medieval there was large cultural gap between Dalmatian coastal towns "Romans" (descendants of Romanized Illyrians) and surrounding rural Slavs (Croats) in the hinterland, although slavicisation of Dalmatian coastal towns started very long ago with continious migration from villages.
