Are you autistic, can people tell?

I've had a handful of people ask me if I'm autistic or ask my friends if I am (I assume some see it as impolite to ask). Something about my body language and diction is offputting I assume. I'd wager autistic people are statistically overrepresented on this forum due to the niche nature of some aspects.

Mine too. It doesn't seem to stop people from asking me for directions and of course I have left-right confusion and I think, why ask me?

I used to think I was autistic because I was young, obviously "different", and didn't really know another category of mental problem I could put myself in. As I got older, I started going to therapy, and I ended up getting diagnosed with BPD (also PTSD, but that's unrelated to the "differentness" that made me think I was autistic). I got a pretty high score on an "autism test" once. Superficially a handful of the symptoms look quite similar. One of my best friends is autistic, and I suspect my husband may be.

I am not autistic, just nerdy and slightly socially inept, but I think you usually can “tell” if someone is or not subconsciously before you do it consciously. I probably do have some sort of ADHD but I manage it fine, no need to drug yourself up for no reason.

I guess I'm Aspergers. Nobody seems to care except for women. So all in all my life's pretty usual I would say.
