You seem to be inferring that it is an unalloyed good, which is precisely part of the problem. Whether or not causing mass unemployment at least in the short-term for increased efficiency and technological progress is ultimately a good thing or not is heavily debatable. What ought to be beyond debate, however, is that the technology creates very dangerous and sinister scenarios where governments, corporations and even individuals will literally make it impossible to tell apart reality and falsehood, and could use deepfakes etc to frame and defame dissidents of various sorts.

Furthermore, while I am all for conventional militaries and properly spending on them (although Sunak has announced that defence spending shall be increased to 2.5% of GDP, up till now the Tories of all parties have been cutting defence spending over several years, to the point where our aircraft carriers are a joke), nuclear weapons are indeed wasteful. After all, who is actually going to press the button for a war which will destroy the planet and ultimately no one can really win?

You can do very neat things with AI too. As usual with technological advancements, it just adds a new layers a good and evil on top of all the previous ones. One day new wandering minds.
