I think you need to accept that in life, some people will think you look nice and others don't. You can't really change your appearance (outside of controlling your weight and style or becoming a frankenmonster of plastic surgeries), and you can't force people to be attracted to you, so you need to accept that some will be and some won't be, like the rest of us have to accept. There are men who are attracted to me and men who are not. I do not think about this, as most people also don't think about such things. It's a simple fact of life that applies to 99% of humans. It's bizarre to be so obsessed with it.
And I've only told you a dozen times that your looks are not really the problem. It's literally just your autism. I think you just need therapy for the autism, it's pretty much your only chance.

You're probably right, but most people who are objectively attractive will be found attractive by a majority of people- some won't find them attractive but most people will at least see they are. I want to be handsome, that's all. That's all I want. I don't see how that's being "shallow". If I'm not handsome then I am not visually appealing to people and that makes me sad.

I'm not visually appealing to a lot of people either. I am to others. It doesn't matter. Do some soul searching as to why it's so important for you to be a part of the 1% of people who are that conventionally attractive. Why does it make you sad that you're not? Most people aren't.
You are not a bad looking guy. Just overweight (fixable) and autistic (semi-fixable, with the correct therapy).

It comes off shallow because looks aren't perminate. You are forty-five. Even if you lost weight and looked the best you can with what God has given you, for how many years will it really last?
It is better to spend your time and energy on things that are more durable. IE the important things.

That plus I don't think it'd do him much good with the severe autism. That is undoubtedly the biggest hurdle he has with the opposite sex.

But they have to be in shape, have a pleasant and charismatic personality, and can't have serious mental problems.
There is a lid to every pot, aesthetically. Excluding the truly physically deformed. There is not a lid to every pot in terms of tolerating extreme levels of autism and dysfunction.

Genetics dictates that you look the way you look. If you need to point fingers, point them at your parents. Your biggest problem with your looks has always been your weight. Something you SHOULD have been able to do something about decades ago.
