I see many guys. Saying they would boycott a game for having female playable character. I guess so many don't want to play as a women?

When I still played games I did it when it was not optional, like Tomb Raider. But I would not have created a female character as manager in Football Manager. Also I used MK3 and Ultimate Mortal Kombat female characters because every of character have own combos, fatalities etc.

I avoid it as much as possible but sometimes play with female characters when its inevitable or its 2D-like game and you dont feel like youre the character. For example, i never created a female character in a game like GTA but played/created some in DOTA/LOL/Diablo style games. (My favourite hero in DOTA 2 was Drow Ranger for long time and i was simply in love with her but i played her as "her" so it wasnt a problem)
But for example, in Rust, you cant create a character and you have to play with a fixed character with completely random race/gender created automatically when you buy the game and my friend that i play the most has an asian female character and it feels so strange even after many years. Fortunately my character is white male and who looks like just myself and im very happy about it.

When we were kids, I remember that we always preferred to play as Claire or Jill in the Resident Evil games. Of course you started out with a gun when you chose Jill in RE1 (don't remember if it was the same thing if you chose Claire in RE2). But I do remember we always thought Jill and Claire were badass.

I am a woman and have played as both. In WoW, I liked trolls, tauren, draenei, I forgot what the wolf one was called, and dwarves. I had at least one male and one female of all of these, I'm pretty sure.
It's literally just a video game. I find it insane how much people over-analyze how someone plays them, as long as they are not being an adult baby about it and are not addicted to it, it really should not matter.
I have not seriously played video games in nearly a decade though.
Don't take anything on the internet too seriously. Look: 🐓🚗. The chicken is bigger than the car. None of this is real. And people who have arguments on the internet are losers.

No, unless there isn't an option to play as a male character. Only exception I can think of is Super Mario Bros. 2, when I was a kid I was terrible at it, so I'd play as the princess, since her jump made the game easier.

I don't play video games but boycotting a game because it has a female character seems retarded. Unless there's some kind of political message behind the choice of that character.
