I see some keep on mentioning the Indians they see in their countries to compare with, but Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is not South Asian, it's southcentral Asian, bordering northern Afghanistan and Tajikistan.

btw, seeing travel vlogs from the area and from Gilgit-Baltistan I am not surprised by the findings of the study in the OP regarding Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. then about Punjab I don't know at the moment, I didn't look at that area at all but I've seen even dark(er) skinned NW Indians with blue and hazel eyes in some documentaries

Those numbers can't be accurate. Coon wrote that The highest proportion of mixed and light eyes reported in Indians as a whole is 12 percent, found in one caste in Maratha. So no way that 15% of Punjabis have real blue eyes.

There is probable source of the Coon numbers: Guha, Racial affinities of the people of India.
Chitpavan is Marathi caste. Although 5% grey blue and 8% hazel is 13%.

No need to panick. Im in contact with the authors and will provide information as soon as they have accepted my request. In the meantime, using coon as a criterion again is quite bizarre. We have a academic study where it has been peer reviewed, using a scientific model which they have made public Vs Coon. Right, it must be very hard trying to decide.

In any case, OP is a study on Pakistan Punjab and KPK, not India. Even then, has Coon traveled the entire sub continent? Very impressive if he has.

This Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) was created as the North West Frontier Province (of the British Indian Empire) in 1901 by the British. Before that it was part of Punjab under British. If we go by what you said people in KPK were Punjabis before 1901 and Punjabis, Bengalis, Tamils etc were all Englishmen/British up to 1947.

FYI Pakistan and India were not part of Britain until 1947. India/Pakistan were part of the British Empire. Britain is in Europe. India, Pakistan have always been in Asia. i.e. South Asia.

What is the reason you are so obsessed with eye colour and skin pigmentation?

In hospitals there are posters in cataract clinics writing that people with light coloured eyes are more likely to get cataracts from UV radiation exposure outside than darker coloured eyes. Blue eyes are the most prone to cataracts. Dark eye colour is safer for people.

Ofc not his work, as I said clearly it is written by Guha, Racial Affinities of the people in India, 1931. You read post? Yes Coon only quoted this. And not visited India at all. I was just curious from what source Coon took this 12% in Marathi (as it was no citation) and I found it.
Also Guha said that this Marathi caste was ligthest on whole plain India (and yes it doesn't mean he said about mountain areas in NW).
