Interesting, but wouldn't Italians be closer to these groups than South Americans? (I'm referring specifically to phenotypes, because in terms of autosomal DNA the answer is clear)

No because Romanians have some Mongol genetics that creates that look, Italians don't really look that latin American but more west Asian

TBH, I don't quite see it in these groups. But it is true that some Romanians, particularly women, have Asian-like eyes.
