I find it very unserious and unprofessional for FTDNA to allegedly place the flag on a DNA ancestry result AND for the customer to tell them.
The flags that are displayed must be of the ethnicity or nationality of the owner of the saliva or swab that was used to do the test.
If a user from one continent says that their ancestor came from a particular country on another continent and asks to display the flag of a distant country or even another continent, they should at least provide official documents from the country they say their ancestor came from.
I feel that applying flags to results so blithely, just because a user from one continent says their ancestor came from a country on another continent, does not benefit the community, is unfair to other native users who have the flag of the ethnicity they belong to, and is also confusing for research.

According to oral family tradition E-FT155550 comes from a deserter of Napoleon's troops (1808-1813) who stayed in Spain and changed his surname.
