Watched the next episode on BBC Wales. The Act of Union between Wales and England.

From what I've gathered. The Gentry benfited most from act of Union. Upper class benefited, working class suffered moreso. Like the Act of Union 1707.

1536 document, act of parliament between England and Wales passage:

'Henceforth no person or persons that use the welsh speach or language,
shall have or enjoy any manor office or fees within this realm,
unless he or they exerice English speech or language'
Nine out of 10 in Wales spoke Welsh only and struggled during this time. Henry VIII attacked a good deal of Welsh culture during this time.

17th century snorefest, Puritan's zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Some nice scenes of castles and hills wake me up. Then Wales flourishes.

I quite enjoyed it, of course Catholic Wales, the birthplace of the start of the British Empire in this house. People tend to forget (sometimes conveniently) that it was the Tudors who started it all.

Was wondering when Wales would show a little fight... what we get...Welshmen dressed as women with blackened faces, fighting the powers. But many a good working class Welshman gave their life to fight for Freedom.

Very interesting episode. Wales the world mining capital and workers rights. You can see why Wales is like it is today.

    Copperopolis! place to be!

Aye, they are. Middle of the league. Shooting well above their weight with the big English teams.

    Final installment.

Huw Edwards reviews how the country changed after WWII. The people of Wales make their mark on politics and sport, and the nation's sense of history is revived.
