Since i did my first DNA test, one thing that surprised me was tha huge MENA admixture that i always scored, generally around 5 - 10%, which is pretty high for someone with zero recent ancestry from any place other than Brazil and Portugal. After i tested both my parents, that just got more confirmed.
For some context, my dad is 7/8 colonial and 1/8 portuguese, my mom is 100% colonial, in my family tree my paternal side is better documented, my maternal just reach about 1850's in most branches, but, as far i gor, they both have a pretty normal background.
Using our simulated coordinates from K36 to g25:
*Obs: my mom's raw data have a low coverage, but the results looks ok anyway.
1°model) Know modern ancestry: SSA + Native + Portugal + Andalusia
The distances are good/ok, my native seens a bit a low, but nothing crazy.Code:Target: JingleBell_K36_to_g25_scaled Distance: 2.1119% / 0.02111949 45.6 Sub_Saharan_African 27.6 Spain 25.0 Portugal 1.8 Amerindian Target: Dad_simulated_K36_to_g25_scaled Distance: 1.5575% / 0.01557534 58.0 Portugal 36.4 Sub_Saharan_African 5.6 Amerindian Target: Mom_simulated_K36_to_g25_scaled(Lowcoverage) Distance: 1.7555% / 0.01755467 56.0 Sub_Saharan_African 43.6 Portugal 0.4 Amerindian
2° model) Same as before + Lebanese Christian + Algerian
The distance drops a lot, i get 15.8 MENA, my dad gets 12.4 and my mom gets 10.8, despite that the MENA is eating the SSA a bit, thats just crazy, is like my parents were both 1/8 MENA in origin.Code:Target: JingleBell_K36_to_g25_scaled Distance: 1.2976% / 0.01297628 43.2 Sub_Saharan_African 34.6 Spain 13.0 North_Africa 4.4 Portugal 2.8 Levantine 2.0 Amerindian Target: Dad_simulated_K36_to_g25_scaled Distance: 1.0632% / 0.01063235 42.0 Portugal 35.0 Sub_Saharan_African 6.6 North_Africa 6.0 Spain 5.8 Amerindian 4.6 Levantine Target: Mom_simulated_K36_to_g25_scaled(Lowcoverage) Distance: 1.0817% / 0.01081663 55.8 Sub_Saharan_African 33.0 Portugal 10.8 Levantine 0.4 Amerindian
Things get even crazier in IllustrativeDNA, where i got 22.2 MENA, and got better distance with corsican than even portuguese or Canarias in a 3-way.
I also did a average of my parents simulated coords, it has less MENA and a better SSA/Native % than my K36/Simulated coords, looks much more like my oficial g25 coords from IllustrativeDNA/Davidski.
My dad's real coords from DNA Genics also looks a bit better than the K36/Simulated ones.Code:Target: Parents_simulated_average Distance: 0.5008% / 0.00500823 45.4 Sub_Saharan_African 40.6 Portugal 8.2 Levantine 3.0 Amerindian 2.8 North_Africa Target: JingleBell_scaled Distance: 1.8787% / 0.01878700 44.4 Sub_Saharan_African 25.6 Spain 17.8 Portugal 5.2 Levantine 4.2 North_Africa 2.8 Amerindian
The interesting thing is that my g-grandma (the maternal grandma of my dad) simulated coords seens very normal, she scores a low MENA even with simulated coords (that seens inflate a bit the MENA), ironically in her genealogical tree she is possibly descendant of multiple jews from Bragança, and also her "mother Y-DNA" is of north-african origin.Code:Target: Dad_scaled Distance: 1.0314% / 0.01031379 42.0 Spain 35.6 Sub_Saharan_African 9.6 Levantine 6.6 Portugal 6.2 Amerindian Target: Dad_simulated_K36_to_g25_scaled Distance: 1.0602% / 0.01060226 39.8 Portugal 35.2 Sub_Saharan_African 8.4 Spain 6.0 North_Africa 5.8 Amerindian 4.8 Levantine
Soon i gonna test my paternal grandpa or maybe my maternal g-grandma to see if they scores that MENA too . . . Overall our family seens very "mourisco" admixed, generally using a 3-way or 4-way model we always get the best distance with Canarias + SSA + Native, in ancient models we always score a lot of Al-Andalus, Imperial Rome or Punic. Very interesting.Code:Target: G-grandma_simulated_K36_to_g25_scaled Distance: 1.2360% / 0.01235968 49.0 Portugal 27.6 Sub_Saharan_African 15.4 Spain 5.8 Amerindian 2.2 North_Africa
Does any latino/iberian get similar results?
Btw, here our coords if u wanna try:
