I had AndreiDNA plot me with his PCA tool

OpenAI Interpretation(it references f2, f3, and f4 statistics which Andrei did for me, but I'll share in another thread):

This PCA is well-constructed and, importantly, it is telling the same story as your f2, f4, and qpAdm results, just in geometric form. I’ll walk through it systematically and keep the interpretation strictly population-genetic.

    1. How to read this PCA (what the axes mean)

Although the exact loadings aren’t shown, the structure is textbook for West Eurasia:

    PC1 (x-axis)
    Primarily tracks a north–south / steppe–Mediterranean cline

Left = more Steppe / WHG

Right = more ANF / CHG / eastern Mediterranean

    PC2 (y-axis)
    Separates western vs eastern/southeastern structure

Higher = western Mediterranean / Iberian

Lower = eastern / Balkan / Near Eastern influences

This matches where Basques, Celtiberians, Thracians, Minoans, and Hittites fall.

    2. Your exact position (the key point)

    Gannicus plots here:

Slightly right of Durotriges (Brittonic IA)

Slightly right of Nordic Bronze Age

    Left of Continental Celts

Far left of Mediterranean IA groups

    Clearly separated from Baltic IA

    This means:

    You are firmly Northwest European

    But not maximally northern-shifted

You carry a modest southern/continental pull

This is exactly what your f4 tests showed when Denmark_IA was used as the comparator.

    3. Why each nearby population matters
    A. Durotriges (Brittonic Iron Age)

You are very close to them.

    This indicates:

Strong Insular / NW European base

Celtic continuity rather than Scandinavian bias

    This explains why:

    f4 vs Scotland_EIA ≈ symmetric

You do not show excess Celtiberian shift vs Scotland

    B. Nordic Bronze Age

You are close but slightly offset toward the south.

    This matches:

f4(Gannicus, Denmark_IA; southern refs) being positive

Your qpAdm ANF + CHG elevation

You are not Scandinavian-like, but you overlap the broader North Sea zone.

    C. Continental Celts & Celtiberians

    You sit between:

    Insular Celts (Durotriges)

    Continental Celts

    Celtiberians (but clearly not Iberian)

    This triangulates perfectly with:

f4 showing Celtiberian shift vs Denmark_IA

    No Celtiberian shift vs Scotland_EIA

    In other words:

You share continental Celtic drift, not Iberian ancestry.

    D. Thracians, Minoans, Hittites

These form a southern arc well away from you.

    You are:

    Closest to Thracians among these

    Still clearly distinct

    This matches:

    Weak/moderate Thracian f4 signal vs Denmark_IA

    No strong Balkan displacement overall

    E. Baltic IA (Lithuania_IA)

This is very far from you.

    This is critical:

Confirms you do not have Baltic/Uralic pull

Explains why Finns, Balts, Saami are far in f2

Reinforces your purely NW/continental European profile

    4. Why this PCA validates your earlier statistics
Method What it said PCA confirmation
f2 Closest to English/French You sit in NW Europe
f4 Southern shift vs Denmark_IA You are south of Nordic BA
f4 Symmetric vs Scotland_EIA You overlap Brittonic IA
qpAdm Elevated ANF + CHG You shift toward continental Celts
PCA Intermediate NW–continental Exactly this position

    No contradictions anywhere.

I plot in Tuscany and that makes sense. Half is north italian and then some Lebanese, Spanish, Basque, French if you mix everything it makes sense it plots in central Italy.

OpenAI Interpretation(it references f2, f3, and f4 statistics which Andrei did for me, but I'll share in another thread):
