as we sit between Balkans and Eastern Europe, I checked how it looks with both as default region:

grandma always gets higher distance, on all calcs, dunno why - both for modern and ancient calcs, her closest is usually over 2.5 fit.

I wonder what's with the Germanic pull of my mom across calculators. closest source for that could be Csango villages which are not very far away (Csango region starts some 30km to the West)

I also don't exclude unknown Ashkenazi ancestry on my dad's side, like 1/8, a great grandparent, who knows. need to see how that works across calculators etc. although 23andme picks up no Jewish whatsoever, so maybe it's just a bit of extra Carpathian Vlach

Eurogenes K13 is maybe the most interesting to try for an admix calculator, because it goes into regional averages, which often are much more relevant than national ones, especially for our region, Moldova, in northeast Romania, which has a particular DNA mix, different especially to south Romania but also to western Romania.

need to find a better model for mom, as she is definitely not Csango and couldn't have more than remote Csango ancestry. her full list full unreduced result is the one below. as she is fully Moldovan from central Moldova in Romania, need to find what to model her with, as Romanian_Moldavia_Central (the K13 average of her population) + what

Gemini suggested this mix, which still doesn't make sense for her ancestry but the distance becomes good - maybe K13 just doesn't work for her (will check other calculators and come back - will also get her the "original" G25 coords next days hopefully):

The organization and presentation of the data is unusually fine, Nurzat.

Interesting to see all the variations in the admixture between you and your family members. Looking at this gets me wondering about how much overlap exists between the various admixture components (North Atlantic, Baltic, etc). For instance, I can see that on K13 you ended up with a high West Med component - you nearly match your mother's West Med level, yet your father's is significantly lower. And your East Med is lower than both parents. So I'm wondering if some of your East Med was read as West Med by the assignment algorithm (due to the overlap that exists between Med regions). Perhaps this is demonstrating a minor instability in K13 admixture assignment (precision and recall). Of course what we are looking at here could also be adequately explained by random inheritance, or some combination of these factors (random inheritance, flaws in admixture assignment).

Anyway, I'm blabbering on. Again, exceptional presentation, sir.
