CRISPR-related technique called base editing
Scientists have tested a new method for editing embryonic DNA. The technology allows for the targeted correction of genetic errors that can lead to severe hereditary diseases.
However, the method does not yet guarantee safe results. Scientists fear mosaicism, unpredictable changes in other genes, and the emergence of designer babies," whose appearance and abilities parents will be able to choose in advance.
