But wheni think of Frech colonization I think of their more successful colonies, such as Quebec, Acadia, St Bathelemy, St Pierre and Miquelon and New Caledonia. Overall they didn't do bad. You can say the same thing for the Pacific coast of Colombia. It works because they don't control themselves. But they should have their own autonomy and not be dependent on government benefactors. Same goes for the remaining French island colonies. What's the use of such places besides tourism and prestige anyway?

Fair point about the islands. About Guyana you would have a harder time convincing París to give up that foothold in continental South América (even if it's nothing more than a glorified jail in the middle of the jungle).
