Hazel eyes can be split between light or dark. This is why they are called mixed. If one person has light - mixed ( mainly blue + gray with a small admixture of brown), this could be called light hazel eyes. You are confusing light brown eyes with hazel eyes. They are not the same. A hazel eyes has a mixture of light brown + usually greenish colors, but others as well. So it is not entirely brown (dark). It is in between. Get it? Brown eyes are dark eyes. The British or Irish have higher frequencies of hazel eyes than even the Scandinavians. This is why I agreed with Ubermensch. Most of the dark eyes in the British or Irish are actually dark hazel types than brown.

I know all that. All I'm saying is that the reason our friend over here, TNH and the anthropometric committee all found within 1% difference light eyes is not a coincidence.

Generally medium/mixed for eyes with a degree of brownness to them. I don't have a book, like I said it's only my perception, there may be slight inconsistencies/arbitrariness but it seems to match up fairly well with other studies. I had no idea ToeKneeHwin also had 55% Blue Eyes for England.

Don't think I've seen any tanned redhead without having a ton load of freckles.

Figures aside? So on what are you basing it? It will depend which part of England or which part of the Netherlands. I do agree that the Netherlands is as a whole the blondest - haired country in Western Europe, but it’s not as blond as Scandinavia. For example the northern regions of Germany are just as blond as northern parts of the Netherlands, although Germany as a whole is less blonde than the Netherlands. Similarly, the southern part of the Netherlands are similar to the northern parts of Belgium in terms of blond hair frequency. So you statement about England to be «nowhere» as blonde as the Netherlands is irrational. If you base it on a simple opinion, then would vary from individual to individual.

I have been to the Netherlands, many times. The place where I was born, is not too far from the Belgian - Dutch border. This is just to let you know, I have been going to the Netherlands since a pretty young age. Yes, I have been to England and have family in Newcastle upon Tyne. I am quite familiar with British and Dutch people. Nevertheless, my statement are not based on my personal opinion, because that would be bias. This is why I rely more on proper studies done on pigmentation of various European populations. Also the Dutch who are as a whole blonder - haired than Belgians, French, etc... are still not as blond as Scandinavians.
