Nice cities (nothing against them) but there is only one city which could replace Belgrade, of course I am talking about Novi Sad, also known as "Serbian Athens", 2nd biggest city in Serbia (also, after BG most important economy and touristic center of Serbia).

Indeed, Novi Sad is gorgeous and it is known as Serbian Athens, with all reasons.

Moje ime and I were talking about capitals of Serbia during history, before Belgrade became capital.
These cities could claim their title from past, if Belgrade is not any more capital city.

Brazil was once Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo (it fits better today). The capital of the country was moved to Brasilia, which is a political and state capital of the country.

Probably Thessaloniki but the first modern Greek capital was Nafplio which still looks far better than Athens or Thessaloniki.

Athens'downtown... The most depressing part of Greece by far. But hey, it became like that because of immigration and antiparochi, so...

It could be Lyon because it is the third most populous city of France and has quite a central position geographically. Plus in the past it was Lugdunum, the capital of the Gauls, so historically Lyon do have the aura of a capital.



Otherwise it could be Versailles.




Or another town close to Paris with a big castle, like Vincennes where De Gaulle had considered to displace the capital.

After the Second World War, due to the terrible destruction of Warsaw, Łódź was considered to become the capital city so it probably would be Łódź also because of its central location. The capital could also be Kraków.
