Yes it is a manly trait related to testorone. In order to have a square jaw you need to have a square shaped head. You don't have a square head stears you have a inverted triangle shaped head, just sayin.

I assume it's because actors or models need to have distinctive faces in order to transform into different roles and have more angles to play with the light while shooting a movie.I can't think of anything else.
