Yes. Then it expanded to cover a gigantic swath of land which includes a vast array of people, languages, religions and culture that have nothing to do with one another. If I am "Asian", then how are you Asian? If you are Asian, then how exactly am I Asian? Ti ponyel? lol come on mutabor.....

Ironically, the term Asian originally referred to West Asians and the term African originally referred to North Africans. But now it refers to only Mongoloids/East Asians and Sub-Saharans respectively in much of the world.
Sometimes South Asians are grouped with Mongoloids as part of Asian but West Asians are almost always excluded (even in regions where the vast majority of Asian immigrants are from West Asia). Media outlets in places like the UK don't even consider West Asia to be geographically part of Asia.
