The biggest scandal in contemporary history, is to Germany reduced to be a protectorate of US-NATO, while with the power of its economy, industriousness, discipline, genius, German-Prussian values, it should have been virtually one of the top military power in the world and a geopolitical giant power, that could have been a strategic partner of both sides, a bridge that would de-escalate conflicts between the US (NATO) and Russia, in a multipolar equilibrium

A good question. If not, then it would be the end of the NATO.
Why do I have more sympathy for Russia? Russia would maybe be as agressive as the USA if they had the respective power. (I honestly guess that the various Anglo-Saxons are more ambitious and the Russians as Slavs when they have lost their special communist belief don't have a too big drive for engaging around the world.) But currently the Russians are the underdogs and the only power that can uphold the US' ambitions to be the "world police". Also, I as a German think that the Russians are a natural strategic partner of Germans as there are many circumstances that can complement each other.
(Precautionary: It's not about mutually appreciating internal conditions within these two peoples or that they would have very much in common. It's about having common interests and fully accepting to have diffferent internal conditions without trying to interfer in any way.)

NATO expands by people wanting to join NATO joining NATO, Russia expands by invading its neighbours - Moldova, Ukraine three times, Georgia three times. Also Chechnya if you count that.
They're very upset that after just 70 years of invading and brutalising other Eastern European countries, those countries don't like Russia very much. I mean, why would Ukraine possibly dislike a neighbour that constantly manipulated its elections and siphoned off its wealth to oligarchs for around 20 years? A big conundrum.
Of course the West is cynical in its goals, but the antipathy towards Russia is well-deserved. And now Ukraine will suffer for Russia's ego.
The West was extremely flippant with Russia for the past 20 years, but ultimately Putin is a grown up and he decided to invade all by himself.
I note you critique people on this thread for being one-sided when they criticise Putin but not when they criticise the West.
Either way this is a geopolitical error by papa Putin.

Let them try to annex Transylvania and we'll see what happens Hungary is no real threat to Romania, Romanian army is stronger than Hungary's.

Hungarians aren't interested in annexing Transylvania except for ultra nationalists who still live in the past and fantasize that Transylvania is not Romanian but "Hungarian land". One example right here is Blondie: she has the nerve to accuse me of being an ultra nationalist yet she liked your "Hungary to annex Transylvania" crap. Her imperial mindset is no different from the Russian one. Imperialists stick with other imperialists I guess.

These rumors about Putin's illness are at least 10 years old. When he leaves (and this will happen sooner or later), then a young, angry and pragmatic person will come in his place, who will continue his policy, but already without this Soviet softness and fraternization with limitrophes.
Denazification is always good.
Spoiler!
