most dense - gangetic plain easily. UP, Bihar, Bengal. This area is loaded with humanity. UP - 230 million, Bihar - 120 mill, West Bengal - 100 mill. Thats 450 million people right there. If we add bangadesh -160 mill, thats about 610 million in total. Europe population overall is 750 million to give a perspective.

Least dense - definitely the mountain regions of himachal, ladakh, parts of northeast india outside of assam.

Ironically, Portugal's average population density is higher than Spain's, but it seems that away from the coast, it is as or more sparsely-populated than its neighbour.

That would not be the case if everyone who has roots from the interior would return to its origins. I would say that at least 75% of the current native population residing in Lisbon has recent roots from the interior (myself included). I wish that Portugal was not so centralized.

I meant that I wish that the population was not so concentrated in the litoral, particularly in Lisbon and Porto's metropolitan area. Ironically due to the pandemia people have been going back and seeking refuge in the interior.

Texas has population concentrated in few places. On I-10 from Beaumont to San Antonio intersecting with I-35 from Austin to Dallas and few other small pockets. Everything else is empty.

Yes, some places as you drive by you see acres & acres of farmland of rice, fruits etc.. but there are no people. Those places might have those small airstrips.
