Is it really true that East Germans have Slavic ancestry?

I hear this A LOT on this forum and similar forum....and I never gave much credence to the idea. So, I will ask people who know more than me, is it true that most East Germans of today have at least some Slavic ancestry? My ancestors came from what is now Poland but they were ethnically German, would they themselves have had Slavic ancestry? It is true that Eastern Germany was once inhabited only by Slavic tribes, did they mix with Germanic conquerors or did they leave for the East? Many last names of East Germans ultimately have Slavic origin, this is true. Such as Lubitz, name of crazy psycopath (this is just the name that comes to mind now because of this).

But 'German' last names that end with -ow or -itz or -witz are ultimately of Slavic origin, yes. So do East Germans possess Slavic genes? You could argue there is no such thing as Slavic genes...what I mean is do the East Germans have ancestors who were Slavic?

Okay, so I was reading up and apparently the Slavs who inhabited East Germany did not leave after being defeated by Germanic warriors...they stayed and got Germanized. So it would make sense that East Germans of today descend from these peoples. I myself being of East German ancestry shall embrace my Slavic past from here forward. Slavic language was still spoken in East Germany until 18th century...and even today the Sorbs are the descendants of the Slavs who did not get Germanized...

East German identity comes from Slavic identity. What separates Prussian aristocrats from West German hillbilly scum (related to the Dutch) is the superior Slavic genes they possess. I realize this now. No wonder Prussians are so badass....

My East German ancestor's last name is Slavic in origin. I have figured out why Prussians are so cool, is because of the Slavic genes they possess.

I think 90% of people who live in former Communist East Germany probably have some Slavic blood, the ethnic Germans anyway. They are descendants of Germanized Slavs.

i think they do, you said they have lots of slavic surnames that also means down the line they had a slavic forefather, and thats only paternal because you inherit your surname from your father, not counting the maternal

Yes, they cluster closer to Poles than to the Dutch.
