My older relatives had it. It was used in Ireland for God knows how long. It was called snuff and they had special boxes they used to put it in. Very common among the women folk in the past.

As far as I'm aware the EU banned it in 1992.

I think it was more popular in the past in a lot of countries.

That explains a lot as I've never seen anyone dipping tobacco in Europe, ever.

I thought pipe smoking was more popular back in the day in Ireland though. I am saying this because among the community of pipe smokers the Irish are famous for their traditional pipe manufacturers such as the Peterson of Dublin.

It's bad for them then. Not all the Russians smoke, you're not so smart if you really think so.

Men would smoke pipes but a lot of the women took snuff. They kept their snuff in nice little silver boxes. I know my relatives did it in the privacy of their homes. It wasn't something they did outside.

This is a bit of info about the Lambkin Snuff and Tobacco Factories.

The snuff business proved such a hit that they soon expanded their empire to include a tobacco shop on Patrick Street. By 1847, tobacco consumption in Ireland had sky rocketed to nearly 6 million pounds a year, most of it either roll tobacco or snuff produced by Lambkins. The Lambkin family joined the ranks of Cork’s elite Merchant Princes and, along with Lundyfoot of Dublin, they began making major in-roads on the market in England, with snuffs that promised ‘relief’ for ‘the jaded Statesman or overworked lawyer’.

Thank you for sharing. If you're interested here is some info about what goes behind the famous Irish craftsmanship legacy left by Charles Peterson.

Like someone wrote on youtube, "smoker or not you have to love the depth of this video".

Not sure why teenagers are starting to use it now but I'm guessing its because they think it's less harmful than smoking (lol).

Also, it doesn't affect your lung capacity so high school and college athletes will prefer it over smoking.
Lol I tried dipping for a little while in high school - even did it during class and swallowed the juice.

It kinda hurt my mouth though lol
