Vlad's father was murdered and his brother MIRCEA (this sounds to you as hungarian name? or name of his younger brother - RADU?) after Hungarian governor Hunyadi invaded Wallachia.
Bram Stoker based his fictional vampire character Dracula on Vlad the Impaler, ergo; on Romanian Knight Vlad, only he placed him in Transylvania.
Also in novel, Bram Stoker writes as character J.Harker; "when we left Budapest and went for Transylvania, I had feeling we are leaving western Europe".
Also troughout novel Dracula speaks on Romanian, so even Bram Stoker considered his fictional character as Romanian, and about true Dracula; Vlad the Impaler, there is not doubt he was Romanian.
P.S. Vlad the Impaler (Dracula) went on attack in alliance with Ottomans on his own cousin Vladislav II because Hungarians placed Vladislav II (Hunyadi placed him) as governor of Wallachia.
Later Vlad will turn against Ottomans ofcourse.
