Find something better now ... Finns role was very small. Plus old border (before Winter war) was just less than 30km from Leningrad. In any cases...Finland's army would have been close to that city.

Finland's civil war just 20 year earlier? Yup, that sounds short, but Russians actually did that by themselves. First with those stupid Finns who moved to live "paradise" (Sovjet Union)...they faced sad ends 1930's, plus Sovjet's own actions between 1918-1939 united Finns (whites and reds). Meaning at 1939 even hard core ex. reds knew that living in Sovjet Union would be hell versus independent Finland.

Nope, reds were misguided by your Bolseviks communists talks/dreams. Nothing more, nothing less. Just a same as some Finns who moved to live Sovjet Union after civil war (or at its time 1918). Otherwise they were same Finns. Worse case... a brother against brother.

Yes, communist forces were very small/weak before and after WW 2 in Finland. After WWII Sovjet Union tried very hard to get those forces in power in Finland (like Eastern Europe)...but it did't work. Why? Just because they did't enjoy any support of Finland's people. But yes...those very few communists people still (while Sovjet Union's control commission was in Finland) made some arresting of Finnish people. Those guys actually tried arrest Simo Häyhä (white death) too who has just waked up from coma. It did't went like those young communists though. LOL.

According to wiki, the strength of both Reds and Whites was the same 80,000 – 90,000. But the German intervention was the decisive factor in the Civil war.

Yes, brotherly war is very bad. Particularly if some brothers starve 12,500 of others. Notice that it's starvation like in Karelian concentration camps.
