Default Bulgarians 40% Slav on average

Genetic admixture analyses based on autosomal data of 94 modern populations, estimate that the genes of the Bulgarians have two sources and a main admixture event between 1000 and 1600 YBP, i.e. 46-59% Belorussian-like or Polish-like admixture, and 41-54% Cypriot-like. The genes that are provisionally or indicatively to be associated with the Slavic donor group constitute about 40% of the total.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geneti..._on_Bulgarians

Looks like Bulgarians are almost even mix of Thracian southern Europeans and Northern Euro Slavic invaders, with Thracian side having slight advantage. Fucking awesome, Med + Slav makes some hot chicks.

That is based on assumption that Pre-Slavic Bulgarians were genetically like Cypriots, which they were not.

And on assumption that modern Poland is like Proto-Slavs (IMO Proto-Slavs could be like modern Belgorod).

    Edit:

See what I wrote later in this thread:

Unless Proto-Slavs were genetically like Erzya Mordvins, you can't explain Bulgarian ancestry as just Slavs + Balkans Iron Age.

There is some additional MENA/Caucasus and/or Steppe (Tatars, etc. - see where Tatars plot in that image above) admixture.

Croatians can also be modeled as just Belarusian + Balkan_IA, but in different proportions than Serbs (more Belarusian).
And - for comparison - here is the (wrong) model suggested by authors of the study quoted in the OP:

Belgorod equal mix or very close with Belarus (he said around 40% of 46-59% should be counted as Slavic)

Northern Polish sample should not be used to weigh these things, is German infected sample that why your Prussian family plot around it.

Well, can't think of better proxy for Slav input than Belarus. So don't get the issuse-they were used and probably not kind of Poles like Peterski, but those very Slav like.
Michal and some Polack members here are Slavic as fuck, as much as Belarusians so this looks pretty legit estimation.

    Most probably something like this: 45% Thracian + 35% Slav + 15% Anatolian Greek + 5% Bulgar

There is Lithuanians who are purer than Belarusians

You said it also 40% should be counted "Slavic" of possible 46-59% admixture

Belarusians vary alot, some are like southern Ukrainians like me relocated after war my cousins, others are like Balts. There is big differences in that nation most people don't realize because Belarus was conquered by Soviet Union during war and has remained Communist satellite state until now, and there is not enough access to proper statistics of region. In regards to I2 prevalence in Belarus many people were brought from Ukraine after war that has never lived there at any point before the war.
