Yugoslavia did a lot to modernise the balkans, and without it there would have likely been more balkan wars. It's greatest fault like most of the European socialist states was failure to look to the future and lazy/poor economic and social planning towards the end of it's existence.

In Stoney Creek there is a lot of Eastern European immigrants. But they get the worst of both worlds, they're 'white' so the PC SJW culture applies to them, but their language and education levels are poor so they're stuck in doing shitty wage jobs.

Regardless the Balkans have nothing to offer the rest of the world so I guess it makes no difference now.

Many area of East Europe and Balkans. Even in Hungary there are some very poor area where the peoples are starving, and Hungary has average european living standards. You don't need go to Africa or Asia to see medieval very poor places just go to Ukraine and Balkans.
