To put it more accurately, AR has taken an implicit position on Jews by publishing Jewish authors and inviting Jewish speakers to AR conferences. It should be clear to anyone that Jews have, from the outset, been welcome and equal participants in our efforts. There has always been a minority in the AR constituency that has criticized me and AR for welcoming Jews, and there has been another minority that has criticized me and AR for not denouncing the first minority. These groups have generally treated each other with polite reserve, and expressed their bitterness only among themselves or to me—as was proper.--Jared Taylor

That changed at the most recent American Renaissance conference. At least one participant told a Jewish conferee that Jews were not welcome. One participant well known for strong views rose to denounce Jews as the historic enemy of the European people. Another called him “a f***ing Nazi,” and stormed out of the conference hall.

There will be no more disgraceful behavior of this kind if people who attend AR conferences bear in mind that Jews have a valuable role in the work of American Renaissance, and are welcome participants and speakers. Anyone who thinks otherwise has the choice of staying home or keeping his views to himself.-Jared Taylor

THE STRANGE CASE OF JARED TAYLOR

Certain elements have joined the ranks of the “neo-conservative” elite in promoting anti-Arab and anti-Muslim hatred. While many Americans of the so-called “extreme right”—not to be confused with the “neo-conservative” movement surrounding Richard Perle and William Kristol and their allies such as Steven Emerson and Bernard Lewis—are strongly anti-Zionist or outright anti-Jewish, there are a handful of other so-called “rightist” organizations that share the anti-Muslim and anti-Arab fanaticism of the Jewish neo-conservatives. For example, there is one rather prominent individual who—while often described by the media as a “racist”—has nonetheless actively avoided criticizing Israel and who is an outspoken enemy of Arab and Muslim immigrants into America. His name is Jared Taylor. Editor of a publication known as American Renaissance, Jared Taylor is widely believed by many of his critics to be an asset of the CIA. Critics note not only that he is a graduate of Yale, a long-time CIA recruiting ground, but that he has been active and successful in business and finance in the Far East. In addition, a book Taylor wrote—Paved With Good Intentions—alleging that black Americans are inferior to whites, was praised in Commentary, the neo-conservative voice of the American Jewish Committee, edited by Norman Podhoretz who, himself, was con- nected to CIA-financed activities as far back as the 1950s.

So Taylor’s connections to the “neo-conservative” network and the New York elite are firm indeed.
And considering the impact that Taylor has in certain American “right wing” circles that are seemingly independent of the “neo-conservative” elite—such as a so-called “Council of Conservative Citizens” of which he is director—it is clear that Taylor’s voice is being heard and having an impact.—it is clear that Taylor’s voice is being heard and having an
impact. At one juncture, Taylor’s Council of Conservative Citizens featured an item attacking “Dirty Rotten Arabs and Muslims” on its website. The record shows Taylor has a long history of attacking Arabs and Muslims. As far back as November 1993—nearly a decade ago, long before the widespread anti-Muslim tendencies in America, stoked by the major broadcast media, particularly in the wake of the 9-11-2001 terrorist attacks, Taylor’s American Renaissance magazine featured an article entitled “The Rise of Islam in America,” which asserted that “Islam lies at a dangerous intersection between race and immigration,” and which declared:

Islam, in its various forms, lies at the intersection of America’s two most
dogma-laden and self-destructive policies: immigration and race relations. It was
the purest idiocy to have imported crowds of swarthy fanatics who are prepared
to kill each other—and us—over obscure conflicts in the Levant. Had no one
noticed that Middle Easterners fight out their unsettled feuds not only in their
own countries but in Europe as well? To have imported fanatics who worship the
same god as the Black Muslims was idiocy on stilts.124


A Muslim-bashing hate festival sponsored by Taylor in the Washington, D.C. area over the Feb. 22, 2002 weekend set off alarm bells about Taylor’s covert agenda. American Free Press, based in Washington, D.C., reported as follows:


Had you walked into Jared Taylor’s recent American Renaissance conference, you might have thought you were at a pro-Israel rally: the anti-Muslim rhetoric was that pervasive. Taylor’s self-styled “uptown” approach echoes the ongoing Israeli propaganda theme that the Islamic religion is the root cause of the Sept. 11 tragedy—not the pro-Israel U.S. Middle East policy. One who attended the meeting—young Bill White—described Taylor’s meeting at his (White’s) overthrow.com website. While finding the event interesting, White—an outspoken anti-Zionist—says what disturbed him the most was “the decided anti-Black and anti-Muslim tilt of the conference.” The “entire focus,” said White, “was on Islam and blacks and how bad and threatening they are, with nary a word about Jews and their influence in politics. All of the speakers either didn’t address the Zionist-Israeli issue, or did so in philo-Semitic, flattering, untrue and ridiculous terms.” Every speaker at Taylor’s conference except one was anti-black and anti-Muslim, according to White.

Perhaps in keeping with his decidedly anti-Muslim stance, Taylor previously featured a hard-line pro-Zionist New York-based Rabbi, Meyer Schiller, as the keynote speaker at a previous conference. The Forward newspaper, a prominent American Jewish publication, has said that Schiller reports that his influence with Taylor has helped bring about positive feelings for the American Jewish cause on Taylor’s part, and thereby helped stimulate other Americans who follow Taylor’s teachings to think likewise. Although—after being widely criticized by many of his associates— Taylor has since made some motions to suggest that U.S. policy toward Israel and the Arab world may have stimulated the 9-11 terrorist attacks, Taylor does not relent in his attacks on Muslim immigrants, effectively playing into the hands of the Zionist cause.

Ironically, although Taylor has spent a great deal of energy in Muslim-bashing, his closest friend and long-time political fellow-traveler, one Mark Weber, has assiduously courted the Muslim world while posturing as an “anti-Zionist,” causing some persons to wonder just what the Taylor-Weber agenda really may be. Weber is best known today as one of a small group who—working under the direction of a known long-time CIA operative Andrew E. Allen—orchestrated the destruction of The Spotlight newspaper, in its time the one independent American newspaper that regularly and forcefully raised questions about the imbalanced U.S. policy toward Israel and the Arab and Muslim worlds. Taylor and his ilk are thus part and parcel of a malicious and wideranging effort to defame the Arab and Muslim peoples, and the truth is that their impact is being felt at a critical time when the Zionist lobby finds it vital to have its “agents” inside even the smallest—but still mildly influential—groups in America.

Individuals such as these use their outreach (however minimal it may be) to bend Americans and others in the West in favor of Israel through attacks on Arabs and Muslims, and this proves critical to Israel’s imperial goals, in league with the neo-conservative manipulators now dominating American foreign policy.

White Nationalist Conference Ponders Whether Jews and Nazis Can Get Along

For the small, hardy band of right-wing Jews who attended this past weekend's American Renaissance Conference, the biennial gathering of white nationalists ended on a sour note.

The events Saturday, February 25, passed without major incident. But then, late Sunday morning, none other than former Ku Klux Klan leader David Duke approached the microphone on the floor during the question-and-answer session for French writer Guillaume Faye. After congratulating Faye for stirring remarks that "touched my genes," Duke asked if there weren't an even more insidious threat to the West than Islam.

"There is a power in the world that dominates our media, influences our government and that has led to the internal destruction of our will and our spirit," Duke said.

"Tell us, tell us," came a call from the back of the room.

"I'm not going to say it," Duke said to rising laughter.

But Michael Hart, a squat, balding Jewish astrophysicist from Maryland, was not amused. He rose from his seat, strode toward Duke (who loomed over him like an Aryan giant), spit out a curse — "You f...ing Nazi, you've disgraced this meeting" — and exited.

As it happens, only a few minutes earlier Hart, a mainstay of American Renaissance conferences, had been trying to reassure Herschel Elias, a first-time attendee from suburban Philadelphia, that he should not let his observation that the meeting was "infiltrated by Nazis and Holocaust deniers" ruin his impression of American Renaissance.

"The speakers aren't Nazis," Hart assured him. "Jared isn't a Nazi."

Jared is Jared Taylor, editor of American Renaissance magazine. He founded the publication 1990, and since 1994 he had sponsored the biennial conference that bears its name. A former liberal, Taylor is glib, gracious and genial, capable of putting his white nationalism in the most benign and commonsense terms.

"We mean well to all people," he said in his address at this year's conference, "but our own people come first."

The conference has attracted ever larger crowds, with this year's event drawing about 300 people — all white (no more than 5% Jewish) and most of them male. The attendees are united by a common belief in black intellectual inferiority, opposition to non-white immigration and ardor for maintaining America's white majority. By the end of this seventh biennial conference, however, the delicate state of his coalition seemed apparent.

Hart, who spoke at the 1996 conference about his plan for a racial partition of the United States, said that Taylor now had to face the fact that he must purge the Nazis or lose the Jews. "He can't expect Jews to come if there are Nazis here,'' Hart said.

And therein lies Taylor's dilemma.

From the start, he has been trying to de-Nazify the movement and draw the white nationalist circle wider to include Jews of European descent. But to many on the far right, taking the Jew-hatred out of white nationalism is like taking the Christ out of Christmas — a sacrilege. Actually inviting Jews into the movement is an act of lunacy, or betrayal, to them.

Still, just before dinner Saturday, Taylor sounded resolute.

"Ultimately, for all the things I care about to happen, Jews must be part of the movement," he said in an interview. The reason, he added, is that Jews have influence and are widely seen as "the conscience of our society."

For example, Taylor said, without Jewish support it will be nearly impossible to restrict immigration. Besides, the conference organizer said, as far as he is concerned, a white Jew is white.

In its dossier on Taylor, the Southern Poverty Law Center's Intelligence Report speculates that his conspicuous lack of antisemitism "may be related to his wife, who some in the movement have said is Jewish." The Atlanta-based organization, which monitors hate groups, has described Taylor as "the race hater."

"What kind of 'intelligence' is that?" Taylor asked. He said that his wife, Evelyn Rich, is not Jewish.

According to the Intelligence Review: "Evelyn Rich became well known because of her 1985 and 1986 interviews of Duke, conducted as part of her dissertation research... [which] were used by anti-Duke forces to make radio ads attacking Duke during his run for Louisiana governor in 1991." This may help explain the wary relationship between Duke and Taylor, opposites in many ways.

In May 2003, American Renaissance published a piece by Michael Berman about his racial awakening, headlined "I Was a Red-diaper Baby."

Son of a card-carrying Communist, Berman marched on Washington with Martin Luther King Jr. But, he wrote, that was before two of his sisters were raped by black men and before he served eight years as the dean of boys at Brooklyn's George W. Wingate High School, where "we averaged five arrests a day." These days he attends American Renaissance conferences, and this year he brought a likeminded former teaching colleague to serve as his shabbos goy.

"It has not been easy for me as a New York Jew, embracing the views that I do. I am regarded as a pariah," Berman wrote in his 2003 essay.

Four of the 10 speakers were Jewish at the first conference in 1994 in Atlanta, including New York writer Lawrence Auster and City College philosophy professor Michael Levin. The after-dinner speaker that year was Rabbi Mayer Schiller, a teacher at Yeshiva University High School for Boys who believes in racial separatism. Schiller brought a cadre of yeshiva students with him. Kosher dinners were provided.

At the 2000 conference in Herndon, Robert Weissberg — a political scientist who then worked at the University of Illinois — delivered a speech titled "Jews and Blacks: Everything the Goyim Want To Know but Were Afraid To Ask." His thesis was that although Jews and blacks loathe one another, Jews remain frightened of the white right.

Weissberg delivered his remarks with his trademark blend of erudition, Yiddishisms and Borscht Belt timing. He was not a big hit. Taylor heard the complaints: "Now the Jews want to take over this, too."

Weissberg, who is living in New York once again, keeps coming to the conferences. He enjoys the open talk about race, perhaps also the whiff of intellectual danger. At the Saturday morning session, the man sitting next to him doodled on his pad: "No good Jew."

Despite such sentiments, Taylor is not the only one looking to include Jews.

Gordon Baum, the amiable, chain-smoking CEO of the Council of Conservative Citizens, said that his organization has good Jewish members, including a member of the board from St. Louis. "We're in Mensa together," Baum said. He also said that obsessing over Jews "sidetracks you from the real issue."

But Louis Calabro, a retired San Francisco police officer who heads the European/American Issues Forum in the Bay Area, said his sense is that most of those at the conference consider Jews a problem. He revealed that, in his own experience, any time he does anything to rally white European American pride, those who object are almost invariably Jews.

There is also the question of whether any subordination of antisemitism is merely strategic.

Nick Griffin has been credited with trying to root out antisemitism from the British National Party, which he leads. But in answer to a question at the recent conference, he said: "The proper enemy to any political movement isn't necessarily the most evil and the worst. The proper enemy is the one we can most easily defeat.''

Faye, the French writer, offered a similar response to Duke's not-so-veiled reference to Jews.

"The danger of the Jews is not the same as danger of the Arabs,'' he said. He continued: "The Jew is" — and here he had to have Taylor interpret a French expression — "the hole in the dike."

"The water is immigration," he continued. "We must fight on two fronts, but not by the same means. We must be very acute in our strategy. The best thing is to not speak about the Jews. They don't exist. For me, they are like Eskimos."

Not everyone at last weekend's meeting could stay cool on the Jewish question. Before Faye spoke, Michael Matthews, an attendee from New Jersey, passed Michael Berman in the hotel foyer.

"Are you a Jew?" Matthews demanded. "I don't think you should be here."

Berman was hurt.

"You see, there's no home for me,'' he sighed after Matthews had left. "I'm like a black sheep here and everywhere I go."

Dr. David Duke Refutes Eugene Girin on “Racial Realism & the Jews”

Read the following story carefully. It is called ”Racial Realism and the Jews.” Even though the Jewish author, Eugene Girin, admits that he is a “pariah” in the Jewish community for supporting European American rights and heritage, his message to us is that the Jews are now our allies; that they are changing their identity from Jews to “White” and “European.” Of course, the actual fact of the matter is that the overwhelming majority of the Jewish population in America and around the world becomes more extreme and supremacist in their own identity. Every major study shows that Jews are becoming increasingly religiously fundamentalist and extreme.

The author proudly talks about being a Talmudic scholar. The Talmud, as every European American thinker should already know, is Jewish religious scripture that teaches that Jews are distinct and superior to all mankind. It repeatedly denotes Gentiles (and folks, Gentiles are us!) as animals rather than men and endorses every kind of mischief against non-Jews. It blatantly proclaims that Jews alone are the very DNA of God and that we are the chaff and refuse. It says that the purpose of all creation and all non-Jews is to serve Jews. Yes, the Talmud is racist; it is racist against all non-Jews including European Americans!

The same racial supremacist Jews who support Jewish identity and solidarity are the very same Jews who have propagandized America and Europe about the benefits of multiculturalism and open borders. They are the same Jewish extremists who have in fact led the forces that are destroying our race.
Notice also how proud the author is that the two main Jewish “racial realists” he speaks about were instrumental in influencing our pro-European groups from opposing the Jewish power over our media and government policy. To quote the article:

In the late 1980s, Rabbi Schiller established contacts with members of Britain’s National Front, a far right party that had been quite successful in the 1970s, but was then undergoing internal turmoil. Patrick Harrington, one of the leaders of the National Front, split from the organization soon after meeting Rabbi Schiller and formed a new political party called The Third Way (UK). Some say it was because of Rabbi Schiller’s influence that Harrington abandoned the anti-Semitism of the National Front and condemned neo-Nazism. Schiller has also met with Nick Griffin, leader of the British National Party, which has also recently been trying to shed its anti-Semitic reputation.

So, now we learn that the intensely Jewish Schiller, and not a European American, is at the source of an attempt to Judaize our Movement and had been instrumental in division of our ranks in Great Britain.

The author also informs us that Schiller tells us that the “game is over.” Isn’t that what our people need to hear? In a war, is not the most effective propaganda against an enemy to tell him that resistance is hopeless?

Finally, we learn that Schiller, under the command of his Yeshiva superiors makes no more public pronouncements about race, once more we learn where the real Jewish loyalty is. And once more Girin refutes his own thesis about how the Jewish extremists are now our allies.

Michael Berman is another Jew the author praises. The article essentially tells us that Berman’s most important credentials are that his family has suffered from Black criminality. Girin knows that this will elicit immediate sympathy and identification from racially conscious Europeans. He doesn’t however mention to us that Jews are overwhelmingly responsible for the propaganda and the racial policies that caused Berman’s sister (and hundreds of thousands of European American women) to suffer rape and degradation. Then we learn that:

(Of course, race realist Jews don’t always have an easy time with other race realists either. Because Berman believes that Jared Taylor did not sufficiently distance himself from David Duke, who was allowed to attend and ask a question at the last AR Conference, he and others are currently organizing a new breakaway group, to be called the Realist Foundation).

Note: My question was a politely asked question referring to the historical Jewish role in immigration. For simply asking this question of the speaker, Gulliame Faye, a Jew by the name of Michael Hart began to scream obscenities and stomped out. So, Girin here admits that another Jewish “realist” seeks to stop any free discussion and cause division and rancor in our already too-thin ranks!

Girin also cleverly informs us that Black organizations are anti-Semitic in an attempt to get racially conscious Whites to identify with and support Jews. He cites and condemns the Black Muslims as the largest anti-Semitic organization in the United States.
In truth, as far as White racialist interests are concerned, the Nation of Islam is the very best of the major African-American organizations. They are opposed to racial integration and intermarriage. They have for decades supported the possibility of repatriation of African-Americans back to Africa. They teach their followers not to commit crimes, not take narcotics, not even to drink alcohol.
Of course, they do oppose the Jewish extremists, because just as we European and American activists know, the Jewish radicals seek to destroy the racial identity and solidarity of everyone but Jews.

The Black nationalists and Black Muslims did not cause America’s disastrous racial policies. They were spawned and driven by Eugene Girin’s tribe. From the Freudian attack on our European family structure, to the political egalitarianism of Marx, to the devastating racial egalitarianism of Boas, to the Jewish supremacy over the media and their pernicious influence in government – they have promoted every impulse destructive of European mankind.
Girin also tried to refute Dr. Kevin MacDonald’s article, “Stalin’s Willing Executioners,” which states the truly inarguable point that Jews led the Bolshevik revolution in Russia and ran the Soviet secret police and gulags. As MacDonald documents so well in his book, Jewish communities all over the world supported the Bolshevik terror against the Christian Czar and the Russian people.

This antipathy to European mankind is something deeply rooted for thousands of years. Anyone who thinks this will now simply be erased by Jews such as Girin and Berman (if indeed they are sincere) and that we should acquiesce to radical Jewish power in media and government — will only hasten and insure our destruction.

And now, some of these brassy Jewish supremacist enemies of our people have the chutzpah to tell European Americans that the only way to save ourselves is by supporting the same Jewish power that destroys us. You can also buy the Brooklyn Bridge from one of them.
They tell us we should not oppose the very power that has led us to the edge of extinction. They tell us we should ban and ostracize our own people who simply tell the truth about all of this. As Girin inadvertently reveals in his article, they infiltrate, divide and conquer our own Movements.
Jews such as Eugene Girin are far more dangerous to our survival than the worst Jewish, Marxist Egalitarian. The enemy inside your gates is always more dangerous than the one outside.

They must be exposed and fought. If they succeed, our people will continue to lose our heritage and freedom.

My story is vastly different than that of other American Jews. As a (legal!) immigrant from the former Soviet Union, I have a totally different perspective. I am proud to be a European-American and openly recognize the superiority of Western Civilization. This has made many American Jews consider me at best an intolerant off-the-boat Archie Bunker and at worst a crazed hater. The fact that I am vehemently against illegal immigration and support Tom Tancredo only makes things worse.

On several occasions in my academic career, I found myself to be the only student in the class who stood up for white Americans or the West against idiotic anti-white vitriol. While other people my age read Chomsky and Fanon, I read Pat Buchanan and Peter Brimelow. I still remember a professor blanching and gasping when I told him that Pat Buchanan’s Death of the Westis one of my favorite books. He actually said: “Pat Buchanan is the Devil, Eugene!!!” (…. Pulling the eleventh chair up to a table set for ten

All of the narrow rectangular meeting tables were immediately removed when the meeting broke Saturday afternoon. They were then replaced with large banquet rounds set with ten chairs: a place setting for each chair on the table for the evening’s banquet. I’d arrived early. I have to use a cane now, I walk slowly and feebly, and I hate being jostled in a crowd so I was already sitting comfortably in my seat when the crowd poured in through the ballroom entrances.

The rounds filled quickly. More than a few tardy dinner guests had to scramble to get a seat. The tables were close together. I had my back to the New York/New Jersey table. In a very few minutes, only a few stragglers were still milling about amid the matrix of banquet staff who had started to service their tables.

Suddenly, someone hit my chair with another chair. I was particularly nonplussed by the consequences of the impact. I had been in the process of leaning forward to pour myself a glass of water when I found myself up on the chair’s two front legs with my face practically in my salad.

I regained my balance and instinctively turned to see that it was a young man who had hit me and he was anxiously trying to jam an eleventh chair under the table next to mine. He had opportunistically exploited two empty chairs that had been briefly occupied but whose occupants had risen to talk to an acquaintance a few yards away.

I don’t remember anyone ever telling the young man that the entire table was already occupied but I do know that no one checked the intruder’s advance. The ten chairs were more loosely arranged to make room for the eleventh and the “bull in the China shop” sat down and began eating his salad.

I’d partially turned around to face my table but not completely. I am an elderly woman now, increasingly wary of angry young men at my back where I can’t see them and I kept as careful an eye as I could and my ears wide open to observe as best I could what was going on at that table behind me.

I was then able to overhear the fascinating exchange that soon took place as the two men who had been talking with an acquaintance returned to the table to claim their seats. There were now eleven guests on eleven chairs at the table.

The table itself had only been set for ten.

“Waiter, Waiter!”

“Yes sir?” the approaching waiter replied.

“I didn’t get a salad. I don’t have a salad.”

The problem registered on the waiter who was glancing around the table counting the place settings.

“Sir,” the waiter replied, after finishing his count. “There is no more salad.”
The disappointed guest replied in New Yawkese.

“Whaddya’ mean there is no more salad?”

The waiter understood that there was a single dinner allocated for each of those place settings. He left the table, consulted with the chief waiter and then delivered the salad but explained that there was simply no room on the table for an eleventh place setting and someone had to move.

All eyes now turned to the intruder who had begun talking loudly from the very first moment he drew his chair up to the table. His behavior demanded that everyone at the table acknowledge him. I could not hear everything he said, but got the general tone when one of the young people corroborated my darkest observations by asking him directly: “When will the sarcasm end?”

The intruder continued to aggress, focusing his attention on one then another occupant of the table as I could tell from the movements of his head back and forth and the volume and staccato of his voice. The two young friends who had left the table for a few minutes to talk deferred to the intruder and withdrew to look for seats at another table, but they returned disappointed a few minutes later. There were no more seats and the wait staff at all the other tables had robotically refused to set an eleventh place setting at any table whose predetermined maximum comfortable limit was ten.

There was going to be a confrontation.

And there I was, just where I didn’t need to be; adjacent to a heated argument. It got so bad Jared Taylor was called to investigate the commotion. He leaned over the table, eloquent as always, and said a few words but soon withdrew without quelling the conflict which simply devolved into a telling low-intensity verbal joust driven by the aggressive manner of the intruder. This in turn provoked a defensive reaction by the rest of the table.

The intruder and the eleventh chair remained.

He stood his irrational ground and ruined the banquet for everyone at the table forcing them all (and me from my discrete distance of course) to suffer his outrageous behavior. Those at his table who were not engaged in the thread went mechanically through the meal resentful (I am certain) of the additional anxiety that they were forced to bear throughout the entire meal.

Some of the conversation I was unable to follow, but I heard two arguments that bear repeating that identified the intruder and why he conflicted with his hosts.

The intruder, who initially said he was an “agent of ZOG” (I understood the ‘Z’ to stand for Zionism), identified himself as Jewish. The protagonists in the thread, I was later able to conclude, were not Jewish. They were European American Christians. They differed on a few fundamental issues:

The intruder refused to acknowledge that he had indeed created a problem at all when he drew the eleventh chair up to a table that had been set for ten. All attempts to make him do so were repulsed. He would simply repeat the same things over and over. Regardless of the logic that was offered him, he continued to aggress. This was not a rational issue for him. He was fatefully engaged.

On the other hand, his protagonists were simply inconvenienced. They were not as forcefully engaged in the thread and seemed genuinely resentful of the intrusion rather than purposefully combative.

At one point the Jew loudly commented, “You can’t be self-hating. Everyone is selfish at the core. Nobody does an altruistic thing.” and one of the other men at the table asked him why he would raise such an argument. His point was that the phrase “self hatred” as commonly used necessarily assumed an individual’s betrayal of his group. If “self hatred” did not exist, then group consciousness and perhaps even loyal groups did not exist; this obviously contradicted the Jew’s remarks.

The Jew was clever in defending his position of radical individualism, but one of the non-Jews in the thread responded: “You are suggesting a total individualism that leaves no room for group consciousness. The people at this gathering cherish their group identity. Why foist that nonsense on us when you know we know better?”

The matter dropped like a rock.

The next argument I heard was over the phrase “Holocaust denial.” The Jew said there was a table full of “Holocaust Deniers” over there and one of the men asked him in response, “They call themselves Holocaust Revisionists. Why do you modify the phrase to polarize their position? That’s not how they see it.”

The Jew said, “What difference does it make whether it was four million or six million? It was murder!”

The non-Jew responded, “They’re historians. They’re supposed to get the details right. It’s what they do. I disagree that it is a yes or no question, as black and white as you suggest.” But he’d started his response without realizing the Jew had already dropped the matter completely, thereby avoiding having to deal with this response. They then drifted off into another thread I was unable to hear and I returned to my meal.

When dinner was over, the after dinner speaker was introduced, and most of the table occupants turned their chairs toward the speaker and away from the intruder. The conversation was over. Just before the speaker finished, the Jewish intruder got up from his eleventh chair and left without saying a word. When I sensed him withdrawing his chair from under the table behind me I braced myself for the inevitable impact. I don’t know that anyone cared to see where he had gone. The anxiety level surely dropped and there was perhaps even a sigh of relief.

I turned to finish my cheesecake.
