Our story begins in ancient times when England was inhabited by Celtic tribes related to those of Gaul. In 43 AD England was colonised by the Roman Empire up until 410 AD, partly to keep Britons from helping Gauls and Belgae in their struggle against Rome, and also for the valuable resources. Following the withdrawal of the Romans from Britain, England was then colonised by Anglo-Saxon tribes, followed afterwards by their Germanic kin, the Vikings. I'll be reading this for about the next 2 weeks [EDIT: this is taking way longer than 2 weeks, I'm in my exams period - I've added comments in the meantime], and I'll be posting important quotes to serve as a sort of summary and I will post a short review when I' finished reading the book.
