Full plate armor was made obsolete by gunpowder and the Spaniards still wore partial and full plate armor during the conquesting period as the situation demanded. This was also true of English, French, etc. Powerful Japanese daimyo often had their samurai armor made out of steel after European armoring techniques iirc. The puffy pants, flap hats, etc. I think are a bit of a modern affectation.

" Samurai acquired European armour including the cuirass and comb morion which they modified and combined with domestic armour as it provided better protection from the newly introduced matchlock muskets known as Tanegashima. "

I prefer Japanese armour because is more beaultifully crafted and the mask gives a demonic feeling

The Tercio system was very effective and probably the more underrated army ever, we are bad propagandists unlike Japanese

This is what I read years ago:

The Japanese pirates landed with an army samurai in the Philippines. In the beach the battle began and Spanish defeated them.

The pirates returned to his ships except the samurais, who decided to remain in the place of the battle to wash his honor with an individual duel with the Spanish. This way there were tested the techniques of French fencing opposite to the orientally techniques. The Spanish won, but they recognized the value of his enemy sending time later an embassy to the Shogun.

It is what I read, and obviously I was not in the Philippines to verify it.

Why do you think that it´s a fake?? History is full of battles so, in which an inferior armies numerically defeated superior armies. FULL.

The page of Wikipedia take as source the book "En tierra extraña. Expediciones militares españolas" (In a strange land. Spanish military expeditions), perfectly documented and completely true.

And yes, they were Samurais. Most of those Japanese were Ronin (still Samurais), and a minority of them were Ashigaru (simple soldiers).

    BTW you do are gay...
