The Austronesians of New Zealand are Mullatoes? (Of the Papuan variety). Lol.

Damn right, as every Polynesian. And there is a chance, that the first mixing started in Taiwan with the local Negritoes after the proto-Austronesians left their mainland homeland.

I can't imagine having a native group that put up so little effective resistance, and did nothing to instill national pride in the history of the indigenous people.

We in America can at least take pride in the resistance of our native people, you in Australia can't really, and maybe this is why you resent them.
We in Chile are also proud of our indigenous people and his resistance against all odds to the cruel Spanish invader.

It would be good for scientific reasons to protect a big chunk of interior Australia for them.
Although Polynesians have a more charismatic (everybody would love to be Polynesian), we shouldn't look down on aborigines. After all, they are closely related to Guineans, and New Guineans are leaving the tribal past at amazing speed, doing better than any black country in Africa.
