this map is nonsense, our weekdays aren't named after anything, they're just numbers.
Thursday is Ketvirtadienis in Lithuanian. it literary means 4th day, not thunder day.

Hill of Tarańosdios located in Asturias where the thunder sound particularly strong due to reverberation. Tarańosdios means literally "god Taranos" in Spanish, Taranos was the Celtic thunder god. Asturias was lately Christianized, just some decades before the Arab invasion, and has keep many legends and features of their old Pagan gods.

Taranos has survived not only in toponimy but also in folklore. The Nuberu is represented as a man with a thick beard, who wears goat leathers and a big hat. He can be terribly cruel with people, damaging fields and pastures, although he can be also be very kind with those who had helped him before.

What about you Slavs, calling Wednesday the middle of the week?
We, Slavs, start counting weekdays from Monday, not from Sunday. In Polish 'Monday'/'Poniedziałek' means 'the day afrer Sunday/Niedziela ('po-' in Polish means 'after'

Our week days are the result of a vicious reply of the church against paganism. So they are like this:

    Sábado - Saturday
    Domingo - Sunday
    Segunda-Feira - Second Fair
    Terça-Feira - Third Fair
    Quarta-Feira - Fourth Fair
    Quinta-Feira - Fifth Fair
    Sexta-Feira - Sixt Fair

The responsible is actually an hungarian missionary from the 6th century who made his way here. He thought unworthy to use latin pagan names for the week days.

They were used in Church Latin, though: feria secunda, feria tertia, feria quarta, feria quinta, feria sexta.

Feria meant 'free day, week day'. It doesn't really translate as 'fair'.

You're right, i checked again. Feira means fair though, so i don't know if the word was changed after some time and lost it original meaning. This guy tried to change the names of the planets too btw.

Makes sense because Slavs didn't have a 7-day week. Saturday came with Christianity.

    Quite a guy, lol.

There was also someone -can't remember- who wanted to call one of the big planets George to honour a king. Thanks Jupiter they didn't allow him to.
