Brennus, remove all countries and only keep Greece. We are , apparently, the only Southern European country.

Spain and Portugal are Western European, and Italy is Central. So, we are the one and only Southern

Now that we made clear that France, Galicia and asturias, and probably lombardy, do not belong in this category (Northern Greece has also some differences but it's still part of Greece so i can't consider it as non southern European), I will make clear what i mean as "southern Europe", further than in geographical terms:

1. Mentality



2. Race (anthropology and genetics), genetically in all of these countries the percentage of southern european autosomal dna is 40-60%, and the percentage of Mediterranean racial type is 60-80% (see coon)

3. Language
the predominant languages are latin, except of Maltese (which is not even IE) and greek, which is not latin, but still shares more in common with latin than with any other European language, both are Centum IE languages (unlike slavic, baltic and albanian which are satem) and the last but not least, they have similar accent

4. The last but not least, is the similar sense that these countries leave to most of non southern europeans who visit these countries, and usually think that they are very similar

Something that doesn't exist anywhere else in Europe, along with many countries geographically southern , which, however do not share these features and so i didn't include.

Anyway, at least we know Greece belongs in this category, in other forums, spanish members could not agree more, about their own country (i can post a link), the same goes for italians, except of a Lombardian, who, however, recognised these facts about Southern and central Italy

But if someone doesn't feel this way, it's ok, he has no reason to be here, no matters where he is from

geographically, albania is 100% southern. The problem is from other aspects. Ps, i am not saying you are eastern european,after all you are not slavs.

Albania has the same culture with northen greece...same geographical location..same traditions but yet we are not southern europeans...Well i guess we came from mars

I never said the opposite about Northern Greece, except of a very important difference, which is islam.

However, when i say mediterranean Greece, I mostly think of the rest of Greece, not so much northern greece, the way when i say med. italy, i mean tuscany or calabria, not lombardy which already has more in common with Switzerland than with any southern European country. I am not a northern Greek btw, and not even one of the picture in post 5 was from northern Greece
