Albanian Flag in European Paintings.

The two headed eagle is a thousand years old symbol, used by several antique civilizations and Empires. But the black eagle in a red background is the symbol of Albanians.

The first painting with author the British Edmund Leighton is of year 1901. There is no doubt that it refers to Albanians, because for at least 6 centuries the black double headed eagle in red background has been the symbol of Albanians.

Two paintings that follow show the moment of crucifixion. The soldiers (Romans?) are holding a red flag with a two headed black eagle. Both are painted around half millennium ago.




The last painting speaks about a pre-Christian polytheist culture.

Albanians are the only heirs of the black two headed eagle on a red background. It is the same flag in all pictures. Other people use different colors and have added crosses to the flag.

Since the flag has existed before the Byzantine Empire, it's wrong to call it Byzantine. Plus, none of the flags above has a cross, like the Byzantine one. The Albanian flag doesn't have a cross either.

Two paintings show the moment of crucifixion. Were Byzantines the ones that crucified Christ?. No. So they don't represent Byzantines.
The last painting shows a pre-Christian polytheist culture, so it doesn't show Byzantines either.
The first painting is of one century ago. Only Albanians had that flag at that point.
