A ghost gave my aunt a nonconsensual shoulder rub.

Those most often are just trapped energy, a bit like a holographic recording, yet there is nobody as such present there anymore.
That's my understanding of what ghosts are, insofar as they exist. Thus they're almost mundane to me.

The idea of a disembodied trapped soul is harder to accept.
    Spoiler!

Ghosts need to know their place.
No. I was just taken aback dumbstruck to suddenly notice him beside me.

The lady of the house hadn’t told me anything about him, but entering the living room - I must have had a funny look on my face as she immediately asked me if I had seen the boy.

Later I told her that if I was her I would try to get his story and try to help him move on (or call a priest, whatever).
But I think she had grown attached to the ghost’s presence.
Not good for either of them.

You mention contacting a priest. This presumes Christianity is the correct religion. That a priest can 'get the job done' so to speak (sending the spirit to wherever they are meant to go) would mean Christianity is the true religion, or at least that's how it appears. If the priest has that much power, then that would mean there is substance to the religion.

The only time I hear about people getting rid of ghosts, it's in a Christian context. I never hear these types of stories from the other Abrahamic religions. Although I did see an exorcism done by Muslims, but that's just the person being mentally ill.

I've never heard of a Rabbi being called to flush out ghosts.

Then there are, of course, the non-Abrahamic religions but I'm very much ignorant of those religions, tbh.

You could call a Theosophical Society too; - they apparently deal with this phenomenon a lot.
Or perhaps your local Buddhist Lama could help as well.

The priest and Buddhist Lama have conflicting religious beliefs. Both can't be right. How is it they get the same results, which is sending the ghost on its journey?

I know that ultimately – Buddhists do not believe in the existence of a soul.
Yet reincarnation is accepted as a fact.

And Buddhists do not believe in God, they would rather word it as “Totality” or “Unborn”.

There is something similar among Sufi pirs. In extreme cases, people are even sacrificed. There's numerous videos of them doing exorcisms on YouTube, as well as videos giving instructions on how to remove jinns (ghosts) from your body.

    https://tribune.com.pk/story/309264/...rcism-for-help

    https://tribune.com.pk/story/819122/...ear-hyderabad/

Some Sufis do absolutely insane stuff to try to "get closer to God" based on their interpretation of a weak Hadith that says "the crazier you get the closer to God you are", and believe it genuinely works so do stuff such as eating/ swallowing light bulbs, impaling their faces, bashing their skulls, etc.

If you saw that video of the group of old Muslim men running around in a circle dancing to music, that's a milder (more common) version of that. It's part of getting into a trance state. And when they get in a trance, they can act mentally ill. And this may be what you were referring to. Once in a trance, they do stuff like run around like psychopaths, yell, hit each other, etc. Getting into a deep trance also helps them easily swallow several lightbulbs. They then say, "See? I can swallow lightbulbs. This is proof that I am truly connected to God and my practices are right." Their leaders in Iraq were highly corrupt and took bribes from the CIA and US military to give them important military locations using their followers.

Most Sufis are generally considered heretical though and this is far from universal. There's a decent amount of hate towards them actually.

I thought "Jinns" are 'energetic parasites'?

Here a long Youtube relating them to Schizophrenia if anybody is interested:

They're basically evil invisible spirits that are capable of possessing bodies. So you can call them that I guess.
