Traditionally high class means people who are job providers and people who own land and resources, and are very politically influential trough lobbies and similar. Obviously it does not include shoopekeepers with 2 employees. Bush family, Rockfeller, Trump, Musk, Vanderbilt family, Bill Gates, Facebook idiot etc. Some are new money while some have far longer traditions in elite class. In Germany it was Krupp for example who were steel magnates, in Hungary similar was Manfred Weiss. (High) Nobles fall in this class too because of their social influence, lot of land and resources.Thus very few % of population is truly high class. In reality it's dozens of families, maybe few hundred in most countries and less than that is smaller countries. You can enter high class if you are some sort of genius or be born into it.

Leo Messi is not high class. He earns tens of millions but he is completely irrelevant and his political influence is zero. He is filthy rich entertainer. Athletes and celebs make a class on their own IMO, hard to classify them everywhere.

Well paid educated people with big earnings are upper middle class -bank menagers, lawyers, doctors, architects. These can live in luxury but their political influence and power is uncomparably smaller than that of high class. And they often work for somebody although not always. People with other kind of less lucrative degrees would fall into lower middle class. They're educated, but live far from luxury and can struggle financially. Still they got more social respect than lower class, even if in earnings they are not so different (and some of low class people can earn more trough criminal activities). People with craft are part of this class too, they can live relatively decent but are far from being financially secure. Decent car mechanic would fall there for eg, and yes he can earn more than somebody with sociology degree (however, if you get a job with that degree it should provide okay earnings - plus they aren't only educated ones who struggle to find jobs, there are many other fields as well). People who own small business also fall into here usually.

Lower class would be traditional factory workers, seasonal workers in agriculture, cleaners of all sorts, waiters, bartenders, caretakers, taxi drivers, even low ranked police officers for eg.
And than you have people on welfare or Gypsies who are usually outside of class system-on the very bottom. Normal low class people are people with jobs, they are just hard/dangerous and not well paid.
