Snails are not insects - and not all invertebrates are insects. Though I'm also inclined that's just the French doing weird shit as well, and considering the sheer effort you have to go to clean snails and make them appropriately safe for consumption, it doesn't speak well of eating any land-dwelling invertebrates altogether.

Why? First of, we lack the enzymes to digest insects which is a no-go for us humans. 2nd, breeding insects is by no means helping the environment. What is this lunacy?

There's a reason why we've domesticated animal husbandry like cattle, sheep, goats, camels and etc while we never attempted to domesticate any insects besides the silk moth(silkworms) which isn't meant to be consumed anyway. Besides, do these geniuses ever wonder if consuming insects have any health benefits let alone downsides to them since we lack the enzymes to fully digest them?
