Croatia is so beautiful. The scenery and architecture is really lovely. I would visit them all but if I had to choose one it would be Rijeka. I’d also like to visit Dubrovnik.

Split because of the relationship the city's fans have with Benfica. It's a strange thing to base it on that but it was the first thing I thought of. I was going to say that it doesn't make much difference anyway because the cities are relatively close but I've just seen that it's not quite like that, almost 5 hours by car to Zagreb and 6 hours to Osijek. Croatia is actually ~60% smaller in terms of area than Portugal, but due to the odd shape of its geography, unlike Portugal which is basically a rectangle, it takes longer to reach from the south to the north it seems.

Croatia is actually not that small. It's larger than Netherlands, Belgium or Slovakia. And it has very streched weird shape. Border with Bosnia is almost 1000 km long.

You reach Zagreb from Split 3 hours via motorway though

I was in Umag as tourist it is a very small tourist town as tourist I was treated well

Istra and Rijeka are culturally very similar I'm not a fan of western Croatia but people are really accepting and calm.

Beautiful country, I'd like to visit them all one day.

Split looks great to me, however I prefer the south only for vacation.
Zagreb is charming, but I'm not particularly fond of capital cities for living.

I vote for Rijeka and Osijek.

Rijeka appears to be a really interesting place, on a good geographical location and I like the seaside and the surrounding ski resort.

Osijek appears to be a quiet, family friendly town.
The plain appeals to me, the region must be great for biking, and of course my sweetheart Retfala is from there somewhere, so cool people too.
