I was great at coding and web design. It was my hobby in the late teens and early 20s. I couldn’t decide if I wanted to do medicine or IT/software engineering. I was accepted into an engineering master’s program through my undergraduate accelerated bachelor/masters pathway but ended up changing my mind and went into medicine. Sometimes I regret choosing to work with people instead of machines.

Going for sports is a bit like a gamble. If you are really good, you can be a millionaire in your twenties, but if you can't make it to the big leagues or get injured terribly, you can end up in a situation where you have fewer options in life now since you dedicated yourself to sports, not education.

Professional sport is hard labor since early childhood. Obviously natural talent and luck is important but it really comes down to how early you started and how interested your parents were in your success. My kid is on the gymnastics team, she started at age 4 and trains 7 hours per week. I am not aiming for her to be in the Olympics thus her hours are light. For the Olympic material kids of her age 15-20 hrs of training per week is the norm, and that’s for 6-8 year old kids. Not every child can do these hours and not every parent has the resources.

Ain't this the wrong sub for this kinda thing? lol. For me, so far in life, it's been music and general creative endeavors. Never too late to really do something about that, though.

I guess drawing, table tennis, and sprinting. But I never had any desire to go further in any of those and don't have any regrets about it.

I always wanted to do something like GPU design, low level programming… I wouldn’t say it was my first love, but one of my most passionate affairs. I probably would not be as happy if I pursued it, but it’s a hobby that is always on my mind as something that could be more lol

I was talented at drawing and writing poetry.
Ended up becoming an engineer (which I'm very good at, I'm a very analytical person by design) but there is no passion.

I have a good singing voice, but I don't think it is so special that it was "wasted".
