Wasn't it seen as a wakeup call by many people? Like the word Matrix entered a popular lexicon exactly as a reflection of a real world being heavily influenced by the mass media etc.

Not sure as I am not a Matrix guru. But I think Technocrats want to be in charge of who has children, how you live etc., and would like people living in some sort of semi dead state where you thought are uploaded to the cloud and you exist there. Really dark stuff. They are also involved in the transgender stuff as well. It's the beginning stages. If you can convice people that you can transition your gender, then comes transhumanism.

Yeah, the thoughts being uploaded is probably not what we can expect right now - for the obvious technological reasons - but the rest seems more or less accurate.
