Cynicism is an attitude or state of mind characterized by a general distrust of others' apparent motives or ambitions, or a general lack of faith or hope in the human race or in individuals with desires, hopes, opinions, or personal tastes that a cynic perceives as unrealistic or inappropriate, therefore deserving of ridicule or admonishment. It is a form of jaded negativity, and other times, realistic criticism or skepticism. The term originally derives from the ancient Greek philosophers called the Cynics who rejected all conventions, whether of religion, manners, housing, dress, or decency, advocating the pursuit of virtue in accordance with a simple and unmaterialistic way of life.

As a Swede it’s very different and strange watching British brick houses. How do you insulate and are the structure “double” brick walled?

The outside wall is brick and the inner a concrete breeze block, there is a gap in the middle with insulation, remember though it does not get very cold here, my house 2 posts up has no wall insulation it's all brick about 2 ft thick walls and single glazing

British new houses are constructed with brick outer finish/ cavity insulated/fibreglass/ softblock/ dry lining interior finish.
New houses are very warm in the winter, and cool in the summer, the overall finishing of new houses in my opinion got very cheaply made, i do miss the interior brick/ plastered wall.
Securing a picture on the wall leaves nasty little holes in the plasterboard that when you try to fill leaves an eyesore.

This is my home. It is small and modest but it is comfortable although the cold wind tends to howl in the west wing in late November. My bedroom is in the SE corner tower and has a magnificent view over the gardens but to tell you the truth I prefer to gaze at the paintings on the ceiling.

"Free, do you call yourself? Then I would hear your ruling thought, and not merely that you have escaped from a yoke. Are you one of those who had the right to escape from a yoke? Many a one has cast away his last worth when he has cast away his servitude. Free from what? What does that matter to Zarathustra! But your fiery eyes should tell me: free for what?" - Thus Spoke Zarathustra
