Default Guns in Europe, Any chance of inprovement?

(mods, not sure if this is the right forum for this-move as needed)

So anyway, With the recent tragedy in Aurora, and the apparent lack of movement on gun control in the U.S. (We are, in fact, moving slowly the other direction), a few of my friends and I were talking about the state of dis-armament of our brothers in Europe.

I was the only one who held the opinion that there might be hope of at least some degree restoration of firearms freedom, or at least some loosening of the tight control that now seems to grip the continent in our lifetime.

So, was I wrong? Is there any chance of change? Or are most of the citizens there content with things the way they are?
    Just wondering.
You don't need a gun until you need a gun. Then you need a gun and there is no good substitute.

Europe's states are constituted (amongst other things) by multiple social fractures liable to opening up at any moment under the right kind of pressure. Combined with the generally high population density and the State's requirement to monopolise violence in order to enforce social cohesion, one should not expect a loosening of civilian firearms restrictions.

I will speak only for my country: the average person don't care about guns and i would say 90% of people don't know how to shoot. So, that is really a non-issue here.

    Absolutely-fcking-not.

There are exceptions like Scandinavia, Austria, Serbia (which ranks 2nd behind the US in number of guns per capita), but the EU is globalism incarnate. It's the prototype of supra-national entities that surrender national sovereignty to a global military-industrial cartel.
Like the future North American Union; which will sadly be realised within our lifetimes.

I regard Australia as far worse than Europe in terms of gun control. Here you say the words "Civilian gun ownership" and the average sheeple reacts to you like you're advocating child porn.

I saw an interview last week after the Colorado shooting on a panel discussion show here, and they brought over an NRA speaker to give some insight, one of the women on this panel, I kid you not, referred to him as "crazy".
This is on prime-time television. Journalistic integrity anyone?
I haven't even seen that level of bias on FOX News (well maybe from O'Reilly).

Yes, there has been a substantial loosening of gun laws during the past 10-20 years. The biggest changes are:

    * Gun ownership is seen as more legitimate, gun grabbing doesn't have any political support
    * A wider range of weapons, especially semi-auto, are available
    * New shooting forms have been introduced
    * It's more okay to have politically incorrect guns
    * There's no hoplophobia among younger people
    * There's now civilian gun ownership in Eastern Europe

So it's Eastern Europe where the change is taking place. Interesting.

    How was the UK disarmed?

Civilian gun ownership in the UK is associated with illegal firearms and urban gangs, but I know that wasn't always the case.
