If you are a woman, watch this video.
If you have a woman in your life that you love, watch this video.
No matter what country you are in, you have read news reports of women being attacked and killed. Women being stalked. Women being raped. Women being killed by their spouses.
Yes, men get victimized, too, but here is a woman alone, a stalker closing in. The police are minutes away and she needs help in seconds.

I have always been pro-gun rights, and personal experience of repeated physical assault in the broad daylight has only strengthened my conviction. I dare you have the same happen to you and still think normal citizens should not have the right to bear arms.

No country in this world will ever let me get close to guns again. But for street fights (or assaults, to be correct) I still think it is still much better not to have a gun with you. That may only give others ideas. Take a few NHB training sessions and let your body become the weapon. A skull can easily break every bone and incapacitate an attacker.
Brother, these Americans are shopkeeper souls stinking to heaven. Dead for all spiritual life, totally dead. The nightingale is right that it does not come to these wretched existences. To me it is of serious, deeper meaning that America has no nightingale at all. To me it seems to be poetic justice. A Niagara voice is necessary to preach to these crooks that there are higher Gods than those coined in the mints."

Call me naive, but the gun culture in Australia is pretty negligible. The only people who have the right to own one are those in the armed forces and farmers. The only time I hear of any such acts of violence is when it's an underworld hit, and they have been bought through the black market. It isn't the same culture as it is in America (nor are there the same sort of threats), and to be perfectly honest, I like it this way. I do appreciate, however, that in other parts of the world, it may be more necessary to own one.

All those in favour of gun control; raise your right hand.

that sounds idyllic -
a country where one has no need of self-defence:
no sexually obsessed stalkers, rapists,
home-invasions, violent assaults/muggings, murders,
no religiously narcissistic immigrants
gang-raping your daughters
or slashing your sons to death.
since police/courts and the law do not prevent crime
(they only deal with the residue),
australian culture must be extremely peace-full/courteous
and non-violent.

I'm actually surprised at this remark from you. I never said that Australia had no troubles, and I would appreciate it if you didn't attempt to twist my words in such a fashion. You want to take that line, fine. There is no further explanation from me, because you clearly wouldn't understand where I come from.

It's probably somewhat redundant to point this out, but carrying a gun around for self-defense is not enough. You also have to be 100% confident in operating it.
