I don't really worry that much though. I speak their language (Xhosa) and they have respect for white people who go to the trouble to speak their language. Sometimes the accidentally throw their balls over my wall when they play cricket or soccer and then we speak in Xhosa to each other. They talk about me as the white lady who speaks Xhosa, which does give me a strange kind of protection from them. A knowledge than I am not racist and make an effort to learn their culture. As crazy as it sounds, it helps!

Where I live, some houses have a privacy fence, but nobody has a fence in the front of the house.
