Horrifying picture of a malnourished child reveals desperation of 17 million people starving to death in Yemen's brutal civil war

The child is one of millions suffering from the famine, which is killing around 130 people per day, as a result of the civil war in Yemen.

The terrifyingly thin child can be seen lying on a bed in a hospital in the town of Abs yesterday as he was treated by doctors.

Yemen's conflict began in March 2015 when an international coalition led by Saudi Arabia backing its incumbent government launched airstrikes on the Iran-backed Houthi rebels.

According to the World Health Organisation the famine has partially been caused by the US-backed Saudi forces devastation of Yemeni infrastructure.

The coalition is said to have targeted Yemen's water supplies in particular, making crop production and agriculture almost impossible.

Jan Egeland, who heads the Norwegian Refugee Council and also advises the United Nations on Syrian humanitarian operations said: 'We will have a famine of biblical proportions, if it continues like now with only a portion of those in greatest need getting humanitarian relief.'

It's complicated. Basically 2 distinct countries with multiple rebel groups occupying various territories. The Global head of the Red Cross has been there multiple times.

nah, all people care about is land, money, resources, and getting what they want. and if you happen to be in their way they will just blow your cities and towns up, murder countless of innocents, kids, dogs, women, men all for what? XD the Saudi Government is pretty fucked in the head but then again most of those muslim rules make no sense to me. You can get publically executed like wtf XD thats brutal as hell
