To be loved exorbitantly may stunt one's growth or create a stalker. To be feared excessively may band others against you, and prevent you from connecting with them.
Uhm decisions decisions. Ok maybe I'd prefer to be loved.
When people fear you, no one wants to be around you or get close to you. If you are loved, it brings you and others happiness and joy. Fear may give you power, but not any kind of power that I would want.
In the end, being loved and being a good person will make you happier than being a powerful and great one.
