The paintings from Pompeii indicate Meds, so until a trove of paintings from Central and Northern Italy is discovered, we can only speculate. It's possible the the IE's who entered the teeming borders of Italy were not numerous enough to sustain any sort of permanent racial alteration in that peninsula for more than two or three centuries in limited localities, especially if they intermarried into the Etruscan nobility, which many (but not all) did. As for the Greeks, we have the Mycenaean Grave Circles to attest that for a time, in any case, Central European types of the Germanic variety did indeed remain more or less distinct from the people they vanquished for quite a while after they took over.
The Iliad and Odyssey (doubtless hearkening back to before 1000 BC) mention blonds here and there, but since Caucasoids all exhibit some blondness, and we have no representative portraits of them, one can argue either way, but I would imagine that these were linked to the corpses in the Grave Circles. Can't prove it, however.
