All contextual, over here I say my racial background but when i'm abroad I always just say i'm British. I usually don't even tell people my full list of ethnicities in person because it takes too long

Nationality more often than ethnicity

When a black italian comes into my presence I address him as African.

for example: "You and that African guy"

Some of them would find that insulting but that's not my problem.

Why don't you just say "negro guy"?
