Spain has many climates.
Anyway we have discovered something called "irrigation", that mitigates the lack of rainwater during summer.
In my case I have a little stream bordering my vegetable garden, so I have not any problem with lack of water.
Unless the year is very dry and the stream dries completely, in that case I have tanks where to store the water. In the past there was a small irrigation canal, but as family gardens fell into disuse 40-50 years ago, it ended up stopping due to lack of maintenance.
I have apple, fig, cherry, quince, plum, peach, cherry, hazelnut and walnut trees there, apart from planting all kinds of vegetables in spring and summer.
In other small family farms I have olive trees or vines and some other fruit trees. Apart from the autochthonous wild shrubs and trees such as sloes, "pomas", wild plums and blackberries that grow everywhere.
It is a fantastic exercise and a very healthy way to relax and maintain close contact with the earth.
Aromatic plants grow wild everywhere here, aside I have laurel tree and carnations that have been growing in an area for years.
This year I have hardly planted vegetables, because the seedlings of peppers and chilli peppers have not worked very well for me and I still cannot go to buy plants outside my province due to the confinement, what there are right now are onions, garlic and chickpeas, all planted before confinement.
I planted chickpeas because I want to experiment with them when they are green, I think it can be quite interesting in terms of new flavors.
